After every race I will post our Power Grid, which is the top 11 drivers in my view. Why 11? Because everyone else does a top 10, and #11 TK is my favorite driver, so seems good enough reason for me! I will also post an updated IZOD Championship points graph.
1st – Will Power – No Change
Could have won his first full oval had it not been for the blocking. I know he won the 1/2 Texas race last year, but I still think that Will Power needs to win a full oval race. He always seems to find bad luck or the wall at ovals. It is the only thing that is keeping him from totally dominating this series.
Always seems to find bad luck on ovals
2nd – Scott Dixon – No Change
Speaking of dominating this series, Mr. Dixon! What a solid season so far. It was very weird seeing him go out with a wreck like that. So un-Dixon like.
3th – James Hinchcliffe – Up 1 Spot
Another great run. So long as the track doesn’t eat his car, he seems to be a top 10 finisher each race. Would be nice to see him get a win this year. Think it can happen.
4th – Dario Franchitti – Down 1 Spot
Bad day for Dario, but not ready to give up on him yet. He’s not dead in this Championship race until he is mathematically out of it.
5th – Tony Kanaan – Up 1 Spot
Might have won the race had it not been for Will Power’s block. Great last 3 races. He’s great on short ovals, so next two weeks should be good for him.
6th – Simon Pagenaud – Up 1 Spot
Quietly the best and most consitant season.
7th – Helio Castroneves – Down 2 Spots
After a great start to the season, starting to soften. The last two races shows why he hasn’t won a championship yet. He has streaks of brillance, but can’t stay consistant for a full season.
8th – Ryan Briscoe – Up 2 Spots
Great race in Texas. Can he keep it up, or will he continue to be up and down?
9th – JR Hildebrand – Unranked
The next few weeks are in his wheelhouse, ovals. Time for him to make hay while the sun is shining.
10th – Justin Wilson – Unranked
You win a race and make it to top 10 in the IZOD standings, you make my power list. We talk a lot about oval guys learning the road/street courses, but nice to see it go the other way this time. Very happy for Justin!
11th – Graham Rahal – Unranked
Really should have won that race. But you could see him getting higher and higher each lap. We all knew what was going to happen. Best Ganassi finisher in Texas.
Dropped from the Power Grid – Takuma Sato, Charlie Kimball, Ryan Hunter-Reay
