I think we have to blame this one on the Big Ten Network. In the first half, we got an INT and drove into the red zone. At this point the BTN showed a stat that we were 100% in the red zone this season. Then when we line up for a FG, they show that Mitch Ewald has the longest streak of made FG’s inside the 40, or something to that effect. Thus the jinx has been applied and we miss the FG, and promptly go down 20-0.
IU Football is very much like a teder totter that we can’t get going in sync. When our defense is making plays (1st half) we can’t get get anything going on O. When we are scoring our defense can’t stop anyone (2nd half). Sadly it has been this way for year at IU. It would be less frustrating if we were just horrible on both sides of the ball, yet we show signs of improvement on each side, we just can’t get it going at the same time.
As Galen and I mentioned in a podcast last week, these first three B1G games might be against the toughest B1G teams we play all season. So I’m not to down about the loss today, and understand that the next two games at home are not going to be pretty. Our next game where we should look to see improvement that can be shown on the scoreboard is against Navy. After that, I think that we should have a shot against the rest of our B1G opponents.
If, after Navy, we play the rest of our B1G games like we did today, then we will have some issues to discuss. But until we get to that point, we have to continue to believe in the process. There isn’t much else to believe in! 😉

Enough from me. What are your thoughts?
