Y’all ready to get this started?…
Not hard to pick out both the good and the bad from the game Foxboro. Probably the first time in the past 14 games we started to really see something on the field that looked like what the coaching staff has had in mind. Special dap to the defense — Ekeler and Mallory got to sleep in for once on a Sunday morning.
With losing Tre Roberson to a broken leg for the rest of the year, we’ve got some new challenges, but sure as shit we’re going keep this thing moving in the right direction…. Let’s get into it…
@PeteAmstutz: Did you run into Marcus Camby or any other UMass greats?
Didn’t Camby, but wasn’t exactly looking for him — but did keep my eye open for Dr. Julius Erving… Now there’s a cat I’d have some questions for….
Did have a chance to have a couple of words with Bill Cosby before kickoff… Nice man, but he’ll talk your fucking ears off — haven’t seen it, but I hear he went on a bit of a verbal ramble at halftime with the ESPN3 guys… Those cats in the booth probably were begging for a commercial to throw to — that online channel thing kind of watches like C-SPAN for sports.
@KevinAndrewGray: How many pounds of victory bacon yesterday?
Good question — have to put it at 8 to 10 strips, so what is that?… Maybe just short of a half pound. Shout out to my new buddy who was carving the prime rib though — damn outstanding. It was more than a little sticky out there in Foxboro — not exactly a scenic day Fall day in fucking New England. Had a pretty good greasy sweat going…
Came back for a second pass at the victory bacon on Sunday morning — probably went through about another half pound.
@1hoosierdog: Any plans to adjust our offensive scheme to better align with Cam’s strengths?
No doubt that the season ending injury to Tre changes how we’re going to be game planning for the rest of the year. It’s a hell of a thing, looked like Tre was fully in his rhythm and was starting to show what he was capable of this year. The only brightside is that he’ll be able to take a medical hardship redshirt.
With the shift to Cam Coffman, the new kid is going to have to step up — that’s the nature of football. He won a lot of games at his JC, and now he’s got a chance to do the same at IU. Looking at his season last year at the JuCo, you could argue he’s got more game experience close to this level than Tre — hell, he probably saw a lot better quality of football up close last year than we put on the field at North Texas. Wouldn’t be surprised if Littrell and Frey start using more I-formation sets with five and seven set drops. We’re going to keep slinging the ball, but now we’re also going to really unleash the hounds with the RBs, with the four man rotation of Coleman, Roundtree, Roberts, & Houston. Only gets harder from here on in and these cats are going to have to run through a hell of a lots of trash in the next few weeks.
UMass #gameballs: Cam Coffman, Tevin Colman, Charles Love III, & Tre Roberson
Everybodygood? Gonna wrap it up a bit short, ’cause we’re busy getting a little payback ready for Ball State…
