The Cream and Crimson game commences at Memorial Stadium tomorrow afternoon at 3 PM. Unlike most years, when IU picks the one weekend in April where its 35 degrees and raining, this one will be played in perfect conditions.
Since most IU fans haven’t really embraced the intra squad game like on other campuses, I figured, it would make sense to give you a good preview. Unfortunately, teams haven’t been drawn up yet, so I don’t know who’s playing for whom.
But I do know the game will shake out one of three ways. Here’s how to best interpret the results.
Great News! Despite losing 1st round talent, Indiana’s offense looks to keep rolling this year. The starting quarterback position will be hotly contested, heck every offensive position will be hotly contested with this much talent. It’s too early to see what kind of impact Brian Knorr will have on the defense, but it’s likely they’ll simply be happy to line up against less formidable opponents on Saturday then they see in practice.
Both offenses struggle
Great News! Wow, can you believe the impact that Brian Knorr has already had on the defense? We were just hoping for the defense to be something better than Gawdawful, but he’s re
ally turned things around in a hurry. We can clearly see the days of IU having to score 65 points to win are over.
A Blowout one way or the other
Great News! It looks like Quarterback A has really taken a step forward and is definitely going to be the favorite going into camp. I wouldn’t count Quarterback B out though, we’ve seen what he’s produced in the past, and he’ll be a sure bet to keep the pressure on Quarterback A. It really is a relief to see (Thus far disappointing Junior) step up and make some plays today. I think he’ll definitely be in the rotation to contribute this fall. Otherwise it’s really hard to take too much from a Spring Game. We’ll wait to see what they look like with after an off season and a full fall camp.
Basically, when all else fails, default to Petry’s Law of Pre-Season Results which states,
“Everything positive is an obvious sign that said facet will dominate in the coming season. Everything negative is something that the team knew it needed to work on and will be fixed before the results actually count.”
