Soccer Pool Update(After 3 Rounds)1

Congratulations to Rob and Ashley who went a perfect 8 for 8 in the Sweet Sixteen round of games.

Before we get to the bracket scores, we’ll take a quick look at the Indiana game. The Hoosiers lost to Akron 2-1 to finish coach Todd Yeagley’s first season at 10-8-2.  Akron opened up the scoring in the 2nd half and got a fairly soft goal on a failed clearance from IU keeper Luis Soffner  one minute later to make the deficit 2-0. Andy Adlard finally put a notch on IU’s score sheet in the 81st minute, but the Hoosiers were unable to complete the comeback. Forward Will Bruin, the leading scorer for the Hoosiers this season apparantly left the game late with an injury, though I’ve found nothing indicating the injury’s severity.

A nice recap of all the Sweet 16 matchups is available at Soccer By Ives.

On to the bracket scores(4 points for the 3rd round winners.)
