Snow is falling in Bloomington, which means that it’s Christmas. Er, no, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet, so that makes no sense. But it DOES make it seem more like basketball season, so what better time to finally drop a preseason podcast about the 2014-15 Indiana Hoosiers?
In this episode, we take a look at the new arrivals, including James Blackmon, Robert Johnson, Nick Zeisloft, and others. We spend a lot of time discussing the obvious changes in approach that this year’s team appears to represent, including a heavy emphasis on outside shooting and a frightening lack of depth in the middle. We discuss the various potential issues relating to rotations, defense, rebounding, and the specter of uncertainty given the lack of familiarity this group has in playing together.
We also answer some reader mail, focusing on how this year’s offense might compare to prior offenses, and whether there is change on the horizon for the program. Finally, we dissect the schedule, talking about the similarities between this year and last year, and give predictions for the season.
