As the Indiana faithful watched the Hoosiers fall to the Kentucky Wildcats last Friday, there was a bit of sadness.” I personally thought they had the skillset to beat Kentucky once again” a student said. However, it seems that there is still much excitement about Indiana Basketball, despite the recent end to the season.
“Yeah it is unfortunate to see our season in, but has been a great run for the Hoosiers. At the beginning of the season we were on the bubble and now we just got knocked out of the Sweet 16. We have so much to look forward to in years to come, so it is hard to not look at the positives embarking our program” one Indiana University student explained.
The common feeling around campus is that we are approaching the time where discussing the possibility of hanging our sixth banner is not completely out of the question. Who knew that time is already approaching? What many fans are wondering is how are the upcoming recruits, aka “The Movement”, going to mesh with the rest of the current roster.
Clay Martin believes that it will not be a big issue. “They did not have a whole lot of depth this season and look at their success. With the addition to these five recruits, the depth will be very solid and will give them an advantage in the Big Ten.”
There has been a stir about Christian Watford possibly forgoing his senior season and declaring for the NBA Draft. I was curious to see student’s opinions. One student thought that it would benefit him more to stay and extra season and better improve his NBA stock. Another student thought that his playing time might be limited next season so he should enter the draft, due the success he had this past season.
Whether or not Christian Watford enters the NBA Draft this season, it will not take away what he has done for this program and the miraculous shot he will most likely be remembered for against the Kentucky Wildcats back in early December.
