With the season being over, students still have constant excitement about this past season. “I still will always remember that Kentucky game. Being able to get on the court after Watford’s amazing buzzer beater has by far been the highlight of my college career thus far. I know that there is much more excitement, yet to come,” sophomore student Zack said. When students talk about Indiana Basketball, it is nearly impossible for them not to mention the Kentucky game in December. When students discuss that game, they immediately become excited and want this next season to hurry up and get here. “Midnight Madness cannot come soon enough. The atmosphere that Assembly Hall will have on that night, will be absolutely ridiculous and will make all of the Hoosier fateful excited for the upcoming season,” sophomore Kelsey added.
As many students have already known, IU is picked by many college basketball experts to be ranked preseason number one. “I honestly do not expect them to be that high. I was thinking maybe in the top 10 if Watford stays, but not much higher than 10th”, sophomore Zack stated.
It is interesting that a year ago if a student would have said Indiana would be in the mix of the Top 10 in basketball, they would have been laughed out the door. Now, however, it is a definite possibility that our beloved Indiana Hoosiers will be strongly contending for a spot in the Final Four. “ I expect a Final Four experience next year. We have the pieces and plus some valuable experience from this year’s Sweet Sixteen squad. I do feel that it might be a bit of a disappointment if we do not make it that far,” senior Brooks explained. It is very interesting that our basketball team will have to deal with high expectations from the fans and will have to live up to those aspirations. If we know anything, we know that our Indiana Hoosiers will be one of the most watched programs in the next years to come.
